Oh, Sports Illustrated

I can give you the unique perspective on the SI Swimsuit photo shoot that you have never had before, the one your readers would never think of ... the MOM perspective. I am the penultimate CMT (chubby mom type:) level headed, understanding, compassionate, all with a great sense of humor.

I am good in front of the camera, a perfect counterpoint to dewy youth, while inspiring confidence and projecting down home warmth. Behind the camera, I am a hard worker, diligent, reliable, organized and dedicated. Having raised five healthy, well adjusted children, I am equipped to stand in as confidante and trusted adviser to young people on the shoot, who might benefit from the wisdom of the ages.

Check out my blog and Facebook page, better yet, give me a call. How can you refuse the mother?

Road Warrior

For three years before I retired, I commuted weekly 150 miles to work. That's when I truly became a road warrior. On free ways driving 5 mph below the speed limit, I found the time was the same with better gas mileage, plus less stress. My favorite driving was on two lane roads - beautiful from the Ohio River to the Allegheny Mountains.

In 2009, I retired to be home for my youngest daughter's last year of high school. To help with senior expenses, I took a part-time job at the local ski resort. Part-time turned into daily during the snowiest winter in years - 250 inches. I didn't miss a day of work. What helped me was safe driving and a dependable car. When the snow got too high for my front wheel drive car, I commandeered my husband's 4-wheel drive truck. I am a road warrior.

From Byron Katie

"Sadness is always a sign that you're believing a stressful thought that isn't true for you. It's a constriction, and it feels bad. Conventional wisdom says differently, but the truth is that sadness isn't rational, it isn't a natural response, and it can't ever help you. It just indicates the loss of reality, the loss of the awareness of love. Sadness is the war with what is. It's a tantrum. You can experience it only when you're arguing with God. When the mind is clear, there isn't any sadness. There can't be." A Thousand Names For Joy

Ad copy for maggie

I’m off to my first year of college. My future is limitless. I need to be ready for any thing that comes my way. With chic styling and easy to use software to help simplify those assignments, HP’s Vivienne Tam Mini reflects me as if HP and one of the world’s designers knew I was waiting in the wings. Dad says I can rely on the warranty support and security, but the webcam that turns into a mirror, plus integrated wireless all wrapped up in Butterfly Lovers design that fits in my shoulder bag-oh, my! Look out theater class, here I come.

Wildest Dream

Wildest Dreams
Dolly Parton

Let’s drink a toast to what might’ve been
To all that we were but can’t be again
And let’s just be thankful we parted as friends
Here’s to the past, let the future begin

Oh, and here’s to your wildest dreams
And here’s to your everything
May your life be blest with sweet happiness
Baby, here’s to your wildest dreams,

I made a promise that I wouldn’t cry
You go and chase your rainbows, go on reach for the sky
But come hold me close now, look deep in my eyes
Tell me you love me then kiss me goodbye

Oh, and here’s to your wildest dreams
And here’s to your everything
May your life be blest with sweet happiness
Baby, here’s to your wildest dreams,

I’ll always love you and I’m on your side
In whatever you do, I will take pride

And here’s to your wildest dreams, baby
And here’s to your everything
May your life be blest with sweet happiness
Baby, here’s to your wildest dreams,
Baby, here’s to your wildest dreams,
Dream on, baby

Soar

"A mother wants her daughter to soar and she's watching her as she soars, but that also means she's receding in the sky."

Leader of the Band

Leader of the Band
Dan Fogleberg
A lonely child, alone and wild
a cabinet maker's son
His hands were meant for different work
and his heart was known to none
He left his home
and went his lone and solitary way
And he gave to me
a gift I know I never can repay.

A quiet man of music
denied a simpler fate
He tried to be a soldier once
but his music wouldn't wait
He earned his love through discipline
a thundering velvet hand
His gentle means of sculpting souls
took me years to understand

The leader of the band is tired
and his eyes are growing old
But his blood runs through my instrument
and his song is in my soul
My life has been a poor attempt
to imitate the man
I'm just the living legacy
to the leader of the band.

My brother's lives were different
for they heard another call
One went to Chicago
and the other to St. Paul
And I'm in Colorado
when I'm not in some hotel
Living out this life I've chosen
And grown to know so well.

I thank you for the music
and your stories of the road
I thank you for the freedom
when it came my time to go
I thank you for the kindness
and the times when you got tough
And papa I dont think I've said
I love you near enough.

The leader of the band is tired
and his eyes are growing old
But his blood runs through my instrument
and his song is in my soul
My life has been a poor attempt
to imitate the man
I'm just the living legacy
to the leader of the band.
I am the living legacy
to the leader of the band...

Daily Words of the Buddha for February 09, 2010

Wonderful it is to train the mind,
so swiftly moving, seizing whatever it wants.
Good is it to have a well-trained mind,
for a well-trained mind brings happiness.
