John McCain is quoted as saying that the rich are those with 5 million dollars. Snopes
I decided to determine where my family and I fit into the bigger socio economic scene.
I looked at Wikipedia to get a quick answer. There are tables on a page titled "Social class in the US at a glance" Wikipedia
Based on my education, I am upper middle class. Based on my income, I am lower middle class. My income equates to what a male with a high school education can expect to make and what a woman with an associate's degree can expect to make. According to the US Census for 2005, my household and I are in the top of the lower half of wage earners across the US.
Hmmmm
Its about a regular life of rural mountain living: enjoying outdoor recreation, reading, and supporting theater

A day to remember
I started to write infamy, but that is so sloppy and irreverent. Today is the day the congress voted down a bailout and the stock market vomited. Hmmm If I believed in conspiracy theories, I would make something of this. I believe as Suze Orman said that this is the result of greed and dishonesty. And those big guys are laughing in their sleeves.
To top it all off, Heroes, the TV show is disjointed and overloaded. I am so disappointed.
To celebrate the dip in the stock market, I went to the grocery store and took advantage of some Kroger sales.

My Wish
My Wish, Rascal Flats
I hope that the days come easy and the moments pass slow,
And each road leads you where you want to go,
And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile,
But more than anything, more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.
I hope you never look back, but ya never forget,
All the ones who love you, in the place you left,
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
And you help somebody every chance you get,
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
And you always give more than you take.
But more than anything, yeah, and more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.
This is my wish
I hope you know somebody loves you
May all your dreams stay big

A Birthday
A Birthday
MY heart is like a singing bird
Whose nest is in a water'd shoot;
My heart is like an apple-tree
Whose boughs are bent with thickset fruit;
My heart is like a rainbow shell
That paddles in a halcyon sea;
My heart is gladder than all these
Because my love has come to me.
Raise me a dias of silk and down;
Hang it with vair and purple dyes;
Carve it in doves and pomegranates,
And peacocks with a hundred eyes;
Work it in gold and silver grapes,
In leaves and silver fleurs-de-lys;
Because the birthday of my life
Is come, my love is come to me.

Remember
Remember
REMEMBER me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

Crush
Crush me ... Come on It's crazy I'm thinking ... Just knowing that the world is round ... Here I'm dancing on the ground ... Am I right side up or upside down ... Is it real or am I dreaming ... Lovely lady I will treat you sweetly ... Adore you I mean ... You crush me ... It's times like these ... When my faith I feel ... And I know ... How I love you ... Come on Lady ... It's crazy I'm thinking ... Just as long as you're around ... And here I'll be dancing on the ground ... Am I right side up or upside down ... To each other we'll be facing ... By love we'll beat back the pain we've found ... You know I mean to tell you all the things ... I've been thinking deep inside ... My friend With each moment the more I love you ...
Crush me ... Come on Lady ... So much you have given love ... That I would give you back ... Again and again ... Meaning I'll hold you ... And please ... Let me always

Moving on
What is this going away?
What is this crossing over?
What to do with the rest of today's afternoon?
"It's always easier to leave than be left ..."
From the road page: As we sat this afternoon contemplating the loss of our brother, we wondered how we could possibly do a show today. Dave put it into
perspective stating, "There's no place I'd rather be than here with you guys right now." We cherish special memories of our lost friend. Tonight, Dave told a story about LeRoi at a bar in Virginia where the cash register was near the stage and LeRoi leaned on the register because "standing had become a chore". Roi proceeded to play the most beautiful version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Dave said, "that was the day I fell in love with him. And I'm still in love with him." It's safe to say we all were in love with him. "It's always easier to leave, than to be left." -DM

April day
O, how this spring of love resembleth
The uncertain glory of an April day!
William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616),
"The Two Gentlemen of Verona", Act 1 scene 3

Spring
Spring
by Edna St. Vincent Millay
To what purpose, April, do you return again?
Beauty is not enough.
You can no longer quiet me with the redness
Of little leaves opening stickily.
I know what I know.
The sun is hot on my neck as I observe
The spikes of the crocus.
The smell of the earth is good.
It is apparent that there is no death.
But what does that signify?
Not only under ground are the brains of men
Eaten by maggots.
Life in itself
Is nothing,
An empty cup, a flight of uncarpeted stairs.
It is not enough that yearly, down this hill,
April
Comes like an idiot, babbling and strewing flowers.

An evening on Wheeling island
It is early evening, It is raining, not too hard now. I am sitting in a white rocking chair on the back porch of 108 S Penn St. I can see the top of the suspension bridge... the west end anyway.
Suzie asked to go back in, but I can tell she regrets it because she is sitting just inside the door . Opps, now she is gone ... the cat ran her off. The cat likes to sneak up on Suzie and Turner and bat the heck out of their ears. Fortunately no claws are involved. I guess the dogs wouldn't put up with it if there were..
The temperature is less that 70. Lovely. I am surrounded by Cindy's summer porch plants, fern, petunia, a couple of potted tomato plants. I need my camera. The wall of the house next door is peeling, the porch down the alley leans. The motor of a car on the next street revs.

i carry your heart

EE Cummings
i carry your heart
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;
which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping
the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

For my children
Lyrics for: The Only Promise That Remains
From the album: Reba Duets
Songwriters: Morris, Matt, Timberlake, Justin
Label: MCA Nashville
Featuring: Justin Timberlake
When the ground beneath you starts shaking, shaking
And you forget the place we came from, came from
When you’re lost and looking for a way home
Your way home to me, I'll come out and find you
When the world around you starts moving, moving
And you should wonder if I still love you, love you
If you feel a darkness coming, rising inside
I'll make a light to guide you back home
And after all the sky has fallen down
And after all the water is washed away
My love’s the only promise that remains
When your doubts have got you thinking, thinking
And nothing’s every really sacred, sacred
And you’re afraid you might believe it
Believe in me and I'll give you a reason
‘Cause the world around us keeps on moving, moving
And there’s no doubt that I still love you, love you
So when you feel the darkness coming, rising inside
I'll make a light to guide you back home
And after all the sky has fallen down
And after all the water is washed away
My love’s the only promise that remains
My love’s the only promise that remains
My love’s the only promise that remains
And after all the sky has fallen down
(After all the sky has fallen down)
And after all the water is washed away
(After all the water is washed away)
My love’s the only promise that remains, remains
